Knowledge Assessment is the term used to measure the knowledge of a specialist practitioner in a designated field.
SkillsEdge has developed Knowledge assessments for practitioners in the following fields - complex sales, project management, general management, relationship management and business analysis. The SkillsEdge Institute is responsible for maintaining the relevance of the product set and for developing new applications.
Knowledge Assessment has three key elements:
The definition of the knowledge set required of an effective practitioner in a specialised field
The development of a multiple-choice questionnaire which can assess the actual knowledge level
The application of a sophisticated rules engine which is able to analyse the responses and produce a detailed appraisal
Validation is a key element in the development of a knowledge assessment product. We recognise the importance of developing the knowledge set such that it reflects the current best practice in the field and the widest possible scope. Extensive field trials are conducted both of the knowledge set and also the scoring algorithms before a product is released.
All Knowledge Assessment from SkillsEdge have been fully validated and are constantly updated by reference to a database containing thousands of practitioner results.
Knowledge Assessment has many valuable attributes. It provides a neutral and clinical basis for measuring practitioner knowledge . This can then be used for a variety of purposes as part of a talent management programme. Gaps in knowledge can have a direct impact upon performance , training needs can be specified at an individual level and career development plans have a consistent reference point.
Many large organisations now use Knowledge Assessment as an integral part of their Human Capital management programme and see it as a valuable element in the professional HR toolkit.
